What you need to know from your Captain

We have put together a list of frequently asked questions.  Please feel free to contact Captain James with any questions or special requests.  He is able to accommodate most reasonable request and some unreasonable ones.

What you need to know

1.  What is the difference between bay and offshore fishing?

​

A)  Bay fishing is in water less than 30 meters deep.  It's concentrated in the bays and shorelines around the coast.  While the water is clear it does have a more greenish undertone.  Offshore fishing is in water more than 30 meters deep.  It's far past the shoreline and in some cases 100+ miles.  The color of the water is a deep marine blue.  As a side note, many people get seasick off shore but do not fishing in the bay

2.  What services do you offer?

A)  Boat and wade fishing trips.  In additions, we offer sightseeing couples day trips, bird and wildlife cruises as well as sunset cruises.  If you have a special request please contact Captain James directly 

3.  How much room is on the boat?

​

A)  The boat is a 22 ft Majek Illusion.  The maximum of 4 adult or 2 adults with 3 children.  In some cases up to 6 adults can be on the boat,  But please contact Captain James directly to make for large groups and corporate events.  He can in most cases make arrangements for additional boats.

4.  Artificial and bait trips are available

5.  How man hours are you out?

A)  A typical outing is a limit of any 1 species of fish or 7 hours, whichever comes first.  Different outing times are available.  Please contact Captain James directly to discuss.

6.  Redfish Reaper Guide Service provides- poles, bait, filet and bagging fish is at no extra charge.

7.  An ice chest is available on the boat for customer food and drinks.  You may bring you own ice

     ice chest as well.  You are encouraged to bring you own ice chest with ice to transport your               fish home after they are cleaned. 

​

8.  What does the customer need to bring?

A)  Any food or drink (alcohol is allowed) and a fishing   licenses.   Anyone 17 or older Texas                        resident or non-resident must have a current fishing license.  Under 17 resident or non-                        resident does not need a fishing license.  Follow link to get your Texas ALL WATER fishing                  license on line.                 Follow the provided link to purchase your on-line Texas fishing                            licenses.

9.  Captain supplies life vests.  Parents of small children are encouraged to bring their child's                   life vests.  Per state law, any child under the age of 13 is required to wear a life vest while the           vessel is underway.

10.  The bays and flats are teaming with redfish, trout and black drum and they are the target                    species.  Occasionally, we will catch flounder, shark and sting ray. 

 

11.  There is not a bathroom on the boat

 

12.  A deposit is required.  Under certain circumstances the deposit is refundable.  If conditions              are unsafe you can reschedule or your deposit will be refunded.  (RAIN DOES NOT                                    CONSTITUTE  UNSAFE).  The captain will deem when conditions are unsafe.   If you need to                cancel you must  do so 10 days before your scheduled trip to receive a full refund.  You may                reschedule your trip  up to a year after your initial scheduled date and your deposit will be                  applied to that rescheduled trip.

13.  Photography services are available for your outing.  Contact the Captain to make                                      arrangements.

14.  Captain James Hinton is a licensed USCG Captain and is insured as well as the boat.  He is                   also  licensed "Texas All Walter Fishing Guide".  

​

15.  Tips are not required but greatly appreciated.
